Full script

[Production note: Darcy's delivery here is noticeably different from the Lion video. Longer pauses. More space between thoughts. Let the silence work.]

Before the Elephant says anything —

(long pause)

— they've already thought about it more than you have.

(beat)

The Elephant is the person who catches the thing nobody else caught. The detail in the contract. The assumption buried in the plan. The risk that would have cost everyone six weeks of rework.

They're not looking for problems. They're looking for accuracy. There's a difference.

(beat)

An Elephant comes prepared. They've read the brief. They've read it again. They have questions — real ones, not performative ones — because they're genuinely working through the logic. They want to understand something, not just agree with it.

(beat)

Here's something I want you to hold about Elephants:

What looks like slowness is almost always quality control in motion.

When an Elephant takes their time — when they ask for another day, when they want to see the data before they commit — they're not stalling. They're protecting the outcome. For everyone.

(beat)

The places where Elephants create friction? It's usually timing.

The insight is right. The concern is valid. The question is worth asking.

But sometimes the meeting has already moved on, and the Elephant is still in the last paragraph.

(beat)

Knowing how to create the conditions where an Elephant's thoroughness becomes a superpower — rather than a bottleneck — is one of the most valuable things a Zookeeper can do.

(pause)

We'll get there.
