"The most well-intentioned coaching in the world still fails if it's speaking the wrong language."

Every animal speaks a different language, builds trust differently, and moves at a different pace.

If I trained a dolphin the way I would train a lion, I would kill the dolphin.

A good zookeeper knows how to take different paths to the same destination.

When you coach a Lion, open with the objective of the conversation — and make it results-focused.

Lions don't want preamble. They want to know why you're in the room and what you need from them.

Skip the warm-up. Lead with the outcome. Then get out of their way.

When you coach an Elephant: come prepared, come precise, come with the data.

Elephants don't move on vibes. They move on evidence.

Earn their trust through consistency and accuracy. Once you have it — they're the most reliable animal in the Zoo.

When you coach a Dolphin: safety before solutions.

Dolphins need to feel the relationship is intact before any work happens. If they sense the conversation is transactional, they'll smile, nod, and disappear.

Slow down. Make the space safe. The work will come.

When you coach a Lemur: connect first. Always.

Lemurs need to know you see them as a whole person before you ever touch the work.

Skip the warm-up at your peril — they hear cold efficiency as rejection.
