§ 01

Stage 01: SCOUT — "Know the terrain before you enter it."

Before any coaching conversation, scout the territory. Read the report. Know the archetype. Understand what's happening upstream — the context, the pressures, the recent wins and losses. Coaching without scouting is coaching blind.

§ 02

Stage 02: STALK — "Move with intention. Ask before you tell."

Open the conversation with curiosity, not conclusion. The question you ask first signals everything: am I here to understand, or am I here to deliver a verdict? Stalk with questions calibrated to the archetype.

§ 03

Stage 03: LISTEN — "Hear what's said and what's missing."

Listening is not waiting to talk. It's tracking what's said, what's avoided, and what the body language is telling you. Different archetypes hide different things — Lions hide doubt, Dolphins hide hurt, Lemurs hide overwhelm, Elephants hide frustration.

§ 04

Stage 04: ENGAGE — "Now you can speak. Make it a conversation, not a presentation."

Once you've scouted, stalked, and listened, you've earned the right to engage. Engagement is reciprocal. It's not a download — it's a dialogue. And the way you engage must match the way the person across from you receives.

§ 05

Stage 05: ROAR — "Recognize what's working. Make it satisfying."

Atomic Habits: This is the 'make it satisfying' law. Immediate reinforcement of the right behavior is how you build the coaching habit on both sides of the relationship. ROAR is the deliberate act of acknowledging what is genuinely praiseworthy — in a way that lands for the person's archetype.

§ 06

Stage 06: TRACK — "Commitment without accountability is just conversation."

Every coaching conversation closes with a commitment and a track. What specific, measurable behavior will change? When will you check in? Without TRACK, the arc collapses into a nice talk.
